Windsurfing is like riding a bike, once you have done it you never forget
how. It has been 4 years since I last windsurfed (due to getting married,
having kids and a shit job). Now that the wife has left me and taken the
kid and I've got a better job (postman), I thought I would go windsurfing
again.
I did plan to go on Sunday in fact I did but I didn't because when I got to
the reservoir it was blowing a F7 and people were using <5m sails and my
smallest was 6m so I bottled it. So I went today instead. Was tired from
gettign up at 5am this morning but the beauty of being a postie is that I
had finished work at 10:45am, and was at Queen Marys at midday.
Had to pay £12 to sail as not a member but it WAS worth it. To be honest,
and i know I haven't been for 4 years, it must have been ONE OF THE BEST
SESSIONS EVER. It was gusty but the gusts were probably about 18knots and
the lulls about 10knots.
Anyway, I was up on the board and away, a little trouble uphauling at first
but on my second run out I was in the harness and planing. the most
planing I have ever done it was brilliant. Fuck forward loops, planing is
where it is at. Uphauling sucks, so I practised and almost nailed beach
starts from the 'slippery' edge of the reservoir how cool. Did a few tacks
but they were not great. About 5 people out.
Really enjoyed the session was about about two hours, I;m back in the game.
